ECOTOURISM AND ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION IN NATURCYL

The ecotourism it is a tourist practice with a growing demand in modern societies. These tourist activities in the natural environment are perfectly compatible with conservation, generating benefits for local and foreign companies in the sector, as well as for the population surrounding the protected areas, valuing their cultural heritage and social traditions.

In addition, a very important element must be included, such as the environmental education. Ecotourism, as an educational component, is capable of fostering an attitude of respect and collaboration and of generating good environmental practices.

Environmental education is one of the main objectives of Naturcyl. This event, every year, seeks to raise awareness not only among the little ones, but also the adults who visit it. Promote interest in participation and improvement of the environment that surrounds us; expand environmental knowledge; creating an awareness of nature conservation... are the objectives of all the activities that are organised, and in which thousands of schoolchildren and the general public have already participated in previous editions. 

In this 5th edition, Naturcyl has prepared activities for the 23rd, 24th and 25th of September. Friday the 23rd, in the morning, is reserved for schoolchildren from various schools in the Montaña Palentina, from municipalities such as Cervera de Pisuerga, Aguilar de Campoo, Guardo, Velilla del Río Carrión and Buenavista de Valdavia.

will be more than 600 schoolchildren of these municipalities that will participate in the twenty workshops organized throughout the morning of Friday, September 23. Cooking workshops with products with a guarantee mark, geology, astronomy, ornithology, construction of nest boxes, games in nature... All these experiences will be given by different experts and leaders in environmental education.

Participation in these activities of schoolchildren, get them to learn and appreciate a little more theenvironmental values of the region in which they live, the Montaña Palentina, one of the regions with the greatest natural value in the autonomous community of Castilla y León.

The Naturcyl organization expects the participation of thousands of visitors in the extensive program of activities that has been prepared.
